ISLAMABAD – Despite government’s promises to curb the issue of frequent electricity outages, 12 hours of load shedding is being observed in rural areas and 8 hours in urban areas, adding to the misery of the people.
According to the electricity distribution companies, the country is facing a power shortfall of 5,500mw as only 11,500mw of electricity is being produced while the demand is 17,000mw.
Sources have stated 8 hours of load shedding is being experienced in urban areas and 12 hours in rural areas.
It is pertained to mention here that the Ministry of Water and Power had initially announced that load shedding will extend to 6 hours in urban areas and 8 hours in rural areas.
